China has escalated trade tensions with Mexico, initiating a probe into Mexico's 50% tariff on Chinese cars and other trade measures. The investigation, announced by China’s Ministry of Commerce, targets what Beijing calls a disruption to "foreign trade order." Simultaneously, China opened an anti-dumping case against Mexican pecan nuts, alleging unfair pricing by exporters.

The MOVE comes in response to Mexico's proposed bill to raise import tariffs on over 1,400 products, including steel, textiles, and vehicles. While the tariffs apply to all countries without trade deals with Mexico, China is the clear focus. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has sought to downplay the conflict, emphasizing a desire to maintain good relations with Beijing, but China's swift retaliation signals growing friction.
